Five Premier League players suspended

Five Premier League players were suspended by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Sliema Wanderers striker Njongo Priso was banned for two matches while Pedro dos Santos Calcado (Balzan), Bjorn Kristensen (Hibs), Eloy Edu Nkene (St. Andrews) and Romeu Pericles Romao (Valletta) were banned for one match.

Priso is therefore ruled out of Sliema’s next two games against Pembroke and Mosta, Pedrinho and Eloy Nkene skip the clash between Balzan and St. Andrews, Kristensen is ruled out of the game against Floriana while Romao will be unavailable for the clash with Tarxien.

Sliema Wanderers goalkeepers’ coach Mark Vella was suspended for three matches, Hibernians official Stephen Abela was banned for two matches while St. Andrews physiotherapist Alejandro Pantoja was handed a one-match ban

Meanwhile Jonathan Bondin (Gzira), Haruna Garba (Hamrun), Roderick Taliana (Lija), Travis Bartolo (Pietà) and Roderick Spiteri (Zebbug) were suspended for one match in Division 1.

In Division 2, Ronnie Celeste and Gary Caruana (Birzebbuga), Muda Fagbeja (Gharghur), Mark Abela and Gianluca Theuma (Mgarr), Antonio Privitera (Msida), Mark Farrugia (Qrendi) and Daniel Zammit (Zurrieq) were suspended for one match while Qrendi kit-manager Daniel Farrugia was banned for two matches.

Zachary Micallef (Ta’ Xbiex) was suspended for two matches in Division 3 while Alex Cauchi (Marsaskala), Elton Caruana and Matthew Spiteri (Xghajra) were banned for one match.
