Difficult task for Under-21 side

The Malta Under-21 side faces a difficult task as it hosts the Czech Republic in another match from Group 1 of the UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifiers at the National Stadium on Tuesday, kick-off at 18:00.

After collecting five points from five matches away from home, Malta lost 0-1 to Montenegro at the Hibs Stadium last Wednesday. A match which has been shadowed by an investigation over the possible attempts of match-fixing.

Under-21 coach Silvio Vella is expected to make at least one change from the team which lost to Montenegro as Sam Magri had to leave the squad to return to England due to club commitments.

The Czech Republic lead the way with 14 points from six matches after dropping the only points in two draws with Latvia and Montenegro. Malta shares fourth place with Latvia, one point ahead of Moldova.
