Floriana file protest against result of FA Trophy quarter-final

Floriana FC filed a protest against the result of the FA Trophy quarter-final against Birkirkara which ended in a 2-0 win for Birkirkara.

Floriana argued that a number of Birkirkara foreign players were not registered with the authorities responsible for their employment in Malta.

The club claims that MFA regulations specify that for professional players to be registered with the MFA and be eligible to play, they must be regularly registered with local authorities.

The Greens argue that since a number of Birkirkara foreign players were not duly registered with authorities, they were not eligible to play against Floriana FC. Floriana asked the MFA Protests Board to annul the result of Wednesday’s game and declare them as winners.
