Women: Champions Hibernians move thirteen points clear

Champions Hibernians moved thirteen points clear in the BOV Women’s First Division after defeating Kirkop United 4-0 while second-placed Birkirkara lost to Raiders (Luxol) on Tuesday.

A goal after four minutes by Ylenia Carabott paved the way for the Paolites who added another three goals in the second half thanks to a brace by Jade Flask on the 52nd and 73rd with Carabott adding another just before the final whistle.

Raiders (Luxol) moved an important step towards securing their status after defeating Birkirkara 3-2. Stephania Farrugia converted a penalty to put the Stripes ahead on the 36th. Tracy Teuma equalised on the 58th and Rodianne Zerafa made it 2-1 for Raiders on the 84th. Kim Parnis restored equilibrium on the 90th but deep into stoppage time, Rodianne Zerafa was on target once again to notch the winner.

In another match, Mgarr United defeated Pembroke Athleta 2-0 thanks to goals by Angelique Schembri on the half-hour and Amber Grech on the 57th.

In the BOV Women’s Second Division League, champions Gozo defeated second-placed Swieqi United 4-2 thanks to goals by Racheal Portelli, Maria Farrugia, Keeva Camilleri and Miriana Conti for Gozo, Becky Naudi and Yolande Attard for Swieqi.

Aleksandra Marinkovic notched a hat-trick while Christiane Ortiz and Kim Micallef scored one each as Hamrun Spartans defeated Sliema Wanderers 5-3 while in another match, goals by Kirsten Attard and Raisa Calleja gave Mosta a 2-0 win over Kirkop United Team B.
