Anti-Corruption & Transparency Experts’ Task-Force make proposal for National Action Plan

The third meeting of the Anti-Corruption & Transparency Experts’ Task Force, created by the Malta Football Association and which involves several stakeholders, was held on Monday in order to make a proposal to Parliament of a National Action Plan that focuses on four aspects – prevention and education, legislation, regulation sports, investigation and enforcement.

Following a proposal by the Executive Committee, the MFA took the initiative of bringing together all stakeholders in order to set-up a national platform to start working to combat corruption in sport and not just in football as it was the case in other countries.

Those present for the meeting included MFA General Secretary Bjorn Vassallo; MFA Vice-President Dr Chris Bonett; MFA Prosecutor Dr Adrian Camilleri, MFA Integrity Officer Franz Tabone; Minister for Home Affairs and National Security Carmelo Abela; Parliamentary Secretary for Sport, Research, Youth and Innovation Chris Agius, Opposition Spokesperson for Justice Dr Jason Azzopardi, Malta Authority Gaming Senior Legal Advisor Dr Karl Brincat, Malta Authority Gaming Chief Investigation & Enforcement Officer Dr. Domenic Micallef, Opposition Spokesperson for Sport David Agius together with Sean Scicluna and Ian Abdilla from the Police and Dr Karen Zammit Southernwood from SportMalta.
