School tournaments for scholastic year 2015/16 come to an end

The final phase of the football tournament for boys and the Futsal competitions for both boys and girls came to an end last week. These competitions were organised by the Sports Promotion Unit within SportMalta, the Directorate for Quality and Standards within the Education Division and the Grassroots Department within the MFA Technical Centre.

The final stage of the football competition for boys, reserved for Form 3 and Form 4 students, was played at the Charles Abela Stadium on Monday. The St. Theresa College Santa Venera Boys Secondary, the National Sports School, St. Aloysius College and Stella Maris College took part in the final phase with the St. Venera Secondary emerging as winners with the National Sports School as runner-up. The National Sports School won the Fair Play award.

The National Sports School, The Archbishop’s Seminary, Maria Regina College Mosta Boys Secondary and St. Michael’s School – Qormi reached the final stage of the Futsal tournament for boys which was played at the Corradino Pavilion on Thursday. The National Sports School won the tournament with St. Michael’s School as runner-up. The Archbishop’s Seminary won the Fair Play award.

The final phase of the Futsal tournament for girls was held at the Corradino Pavilion on Tuesday with the participants being St. Clare College, the National Sports School and the Our Lady Immaculate School. The National Sports School emerged as winners ahead of St. Clare College. The National Sports School also claimed the Fair Play award.

The organisers thanked all participants, the Mosta FC Nursery, the Assocjazjoni Sportiva Hibernians, the Futsal Malta Association and sponsors TeamSport and GSD Marketing.
