Giovanni Tedesco re-joins Floriana

Giovanni Tedesco is once again the coach of Floriana FC after agreeing a deal with the club. He replaces Luis Oliveira who led the team last season but whose contract was terminated by mutual consent last month.

This will be Tedesco’s second spell at Floriana after leading the team between April 2014 and May 2015.

Giovanni Tedesco started his playing career with Reggina and then played for Fiorentina, Foggia, Salernitana, Perugia, Genoa and Palermo. He started coaching the Allievi side of Palermo and then led Foligno in the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione before moving to Malta to join Floriana in April 2014. Tedesco steered the Greens to safety in the final three league matches of season 2013/14 and then led the club to a fifth place finish at the end of season 2014/15. He moved to Birkirkara in summer 2015 but was sacked in December.

In January, Tedesco was announced as new head coach of his hometown club Palermo as the club was searching for a trainer with the requested UEFA Pro coaching badges since Guillermo Barros Schelotto did not hold a coaching licence. However following Schelotto’s resignation as he was denied a valid authorisation to coach the team, Palermo promoted Primavera youth coach Giovanni Bosi as new head coach with Tedesco as his technical collaborator.
