Hibernians in UEFA Women’s Champions League draw

BOV Women’s First Division League champions Hibernians were drawn with FC Twente of the Netherlands, Konak Belediyespor of Turkey and Ferencváros of Hungary in Group 9 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying round.

It is a very tough draw for the Paolites, considering that FC Twente knocked out Bayern München to reach the round of 16 last season while Konak Belediyespor also made it to that stage in 2013/14. The mini-tournament with be played in Enschede, the Netherlands between the 23rd and 28th August.

A record 59 clubs from 47 countries have entered the competition, including the first ever team from Kosovo to play in a UEFA competition. The first Kosovan entrants in any European competition – Hajvalia, travel to Cyprus where they will meet Rachel Cuschieri’s Apollon; the tournament’s only ever-present, 16-time entrants KÍ Klaksvík of the Faroe Islands and PAOK of Greece.
