Women’s Under-17 national team defeat Romania in friendly match

MFAMalta defeated Romania 3-2 in a women’s Under-17 international friendly match at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday.

Sarah Urpani put Malta ahead on the 22nd minute and four minutes later, Maria Farrugia doubled the score. Melinda Nagy pulled one back for Romania on the 54th but on the hour, Maria Farrugia made it 3-1. Alexandra Sfiea scored a second goal for Romania on the 69th minute.

The team led by Frank Schembri shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Romania in another friendly match on Tuesday. Malta will be taking part in a UEFA Under-17 Championship mini-tournament which will be played next month, facing Sweden, Greece and Montenegro.
