Hibernians beat Birkirkara to lift Women’s Super Cup

Champions Hibernians defeated rivals Birkirkara 5-3 at the Centenary Stadium on Monday to win the Women’s Super Cup for the sixth time. This was also the fourth consecutive Women’s Super Cup win for the Paolites, now led by coach Jesmond Zammit.

Jade Flask put Hibernians ahead on the 14th minute but Tracy Teuma equalised three minutes later. However Martina Borg restored the lead for Hibernians on the half-hour and nine minutes later, Shona Zammit made it 3-1 with Martina Borg adding another one minute later.

Goals by Kim Parnis on the 74th and Raina Giusti five minutes later put the Stripes back in contention but on the 90th minute, Dorianne Theuma sealed the issue for Hibernians with a fifth goal.

After the game, MFA Senior Vice-President Ludovico Micallef presented the cup to the winners.
