Birkirkara target fourth win

bov-premier-leagueBirkirkara will be aiming for a fourth consecutive win on Sunday as they take on Sliema Wanderers in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the National Stadium.

The Stripes registered two fine 4-0 wins over St. Andrews and Tarxien before scraping past Hamrun, defeating them 2-1. Following the 2-2 draw between Balzan and Valletta on Saturday, a win over Sliema would give them sole leadership. On Sunday, they face a team desperate for points as the Wanderers suffered defeats to Valletta, Hibernians and Gzira in their first three matches.

Meanwhile in the first match, Hamrun Spartans hope to bounce back from the defeat to Birkirkara as they take on St. Andrews.

The Saints collected their first points in a narrow win over Tarxien after losing to Birkirkara and Floriana. Hamrun, on the other hand, had earlier defeated Hibernians and drew with Gzira.

St. Andrews will be without the suspended Ante Bakmaz.
