BOV Division 3: Msida, Sta. Venera register third wins

BOV-Third-DivisionMsida St. Joseph and Sta. Venera Lightnings both registered their third win from as many matches in the BOV Third Division on Sunday.

At the Charles Abela Stadium, Sta. Venera Lightnings defeated Kirkop United by the odd goal in five. Andre Cutajar put Kirkop ahead on the 9th minute but a brace by Danijel Vasic turned the score in the Lightnings’ favour on the 67th and 73rd. Cutajar equalised on the 77th but three minutes from time, Jonathan Micallef notched the winner.

Msida St. Joseph registered a most comfortable 5-1 win over Marsaskala at the Luxol Stadium. Dylan Attard gave Msida the lead on the 28th and nine minutes later, Dario Zamora doubled the score. One minute from the end of the first half, Glanville Goodlip made it 3-0 and the same player added another two minutes in the second half. Dario Zamora scored the fifth goal on the 50th with Clifton Piscopo reducing the gap thanks to a penalty on the 62nd.

Dingli Swallows claimed their first three points as they beat Ta’ Xbiex 4-2 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Luke Galea converted a penalty on the 9th minute, Joshua Sciarrino doubled the score on the 23rd and Galea added another five minutes from the end of the first half. Dingli added another thanks to Joshua Sciarrino on the 70th although Ta’ Xbiex reduced the gap thanks to goals by Charlot Zarb on the 78th and Giuseppe Barone on the 92nd.

Kalkara also have maximum points, but from two matches, as they beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-0 at the Luxol Stadium. Following a goalless first half, Julian Spiteri opened the score on the 54th minute and Benjamin Ayuba doubled the score on the 68th.

Santa Lucia and Xghajra Tornados shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Sirens Stadium while in another match, Zurrieq collected their first points in a 2-1 win over Mtarfa.

Msida and Sta. Venera lead the way with 9 points followed by Kalkara and Mdina on 6, Santa Lucia 5, Xghajra 4, Dingli, Ta’ Xbiex, Kirkop and Zurrieq 3, LUqa 1, Mtarfa and Marsaskala 0.
