BOV Division 2: Zejtun make it four wins in a row

BOV-Second-DivisionZejtun Corinthians registered a fourth win in as many matches in the BOV Second Division as they defeated Siggiewi 5-2 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

Zejtun went four goals ahead thanks to Margeith Scicluna on the 10th, Godwin Zerke on the 35th, Jamie Mifsud three minutes later and Adrian Carabott one minute in the second half. Siggiewi reduced the gap through goals by Didier Sohna on the 63rd and Samuel Vella on the 70th but Kumpei Tanaka made it 5-2 twelve minutes from time.

At the Luxol Stadium, Qrendi kept the pace with Zejtun as they defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-1. Giovanni Galea put Qrendi ahead on the 11th minute. Clayton Caruana doubled the score on the 84th and Keith Muscat converted a penalty on the 87th to reduce the gap.

St. George’s registered their first win as they beat Swieqi United 4-2 at the Luxol Stadium. Dylan Caruana put the Saints ahead on the 16th minute. Kenneth Ekezie equalised four minutes later and six minutes later, Nicholas Schembri made it 2-1 for Swieqi. However Aaron Hili levelled matters on the 61st and a brace by Anthony Chike Eze on the 70th and 79th sealed the issue.

Zabbar St. Patrick defeated Ghaxaq 3-1. Justin Felice put Ghaxaq ahead on the 29th but Zabbar equalised on the hour thanks to an own goal. Clayton Camilleri made it 2-1 on 77th and Christian Briffa added another on the 94th.

San Gwann beat Mellieha 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Andre Cachia put San Gwann ahead on the 31st. Williams Abeeb Abiodun doubled the score three minutes later and Nezar Abouhaisa made it 3-0 on the 77th.

In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Gudja United defeated Mgarr United 2-0 thanks to a brace by Asad Boomgaard.

Zejtun lead the way with 12 points, followed by Qrendi on 10, Attard on 7, San Gwann and Zabbar 9, Siggiewi 5, Mgarr, Marsaxlokk, Birzebbuga and St. George’s 4, Swieqi and Gudja 3, Ghaxaq and Mellieha 2.

The quantity of people that attended the game vs Siggiewi exceeded the crowds for the Premier Division matches.
