BOV Division 1: Qormi inflict first defeat on Mqabba

BOV-First-Division​Leaders Mqabba suffered their first defeat in the BOV First Division as they lost to Qormi at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday.

A goal on the 72nd minute by Noah Olawole Ojuola gave Qormi a narrow win.

Zebbug Rangers registered their first win as they beat Sirens 5-2 in another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Tomislav Trebovac gave the Rangers a two-goal lead thanks to goals on the 6th and 38th. Dario Tabone made it 3-0 on the 62nd and two minutes later, Ratko Mandic added another. Charles Newuche Nnaemeka reduced the gap on the 74th but an own goal put Zebbug 5-1 ahead on the 82nd but three minutes from time, Tyrone Farrugia scored a second goal for Sirens.

Rabat Ajax registered their second win as they defeated Lija Athletic 3-2 in an entertaining clash at the Centenary Stadium. Adam Smeir put the Magpies ahead on the 4th minute but Lija equalised thanks to an Erjon Beu penalty on the 27th. Rabat regained the lead just before half-time thanks to another strike by Smeir and although Ige Abdullahi Adeshina restored equilibrium on the 55th, ten minutes later, Rabat notched the winner thanks to Dylan Falzon.

Mqabba lead the way with 10 points, followed y Sirens, Vittoriosa, Senglea, Fgura, Rabat, Gharghur and Lija on 7, Pietà, Naxxar and Qormi on 6, Zebbug and Melita 5 and Marsa 0.
