Marsa collected their first three points in the BOV First Division as they defeated Gharghur 5-3 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday in a clash between two teams who were promoted from Division 2 at the end of last season.

Lucky Omeruo put Marsa ahead after just one minute but Luke Busuttil equalised on the 17th minute. Four minutes in the second half, Muda Fagbeja made it 2-1 for Gharghur. However goals by Kento Sakurai on the 57th, Gilbert Martin two minutes later and Lucky Omeruo on the 68th turned the score in Marsa’s favour. Muda Fagbeja scored a third goal for Gharghur on the 83rd minute but five minutes in added time, Kento Sakurai sealed the issue with a fifth goal.

In another match, Naxxar Lions returned to winning ways as they defeated Melita 2-0 thanks to goals by Jurgen Debono on the 49th and Duane Bonnici on the 57th.

Vittoriosa, Mqabba and Senglea share the top spot with 10 points, followed by Naxxar on 9, Sirens, Gharghur, Fgura, Rabat and Lija 7, Pietà and Qormi 6, Zebbug and Melita 5 and Marsa 3.
