Wanderers make it four wins in a row

A goal one minute from time enabled Sliema Wanderers to collect the three points in a drab encounter with Pembroke Athleta at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

For the Wanderers, this was the fourth consecutive win which puts them on the 15-points mark while for Pembroke, for the first time under the guidance of Macedonian coach Artim Shaqiri, suffer the seventh defeat in nine matches.

Pembroke had one change from the team which lost to St. Andrews last week as Borce Manevski replaced the suspended Asani Djeljilj. Luke Montebello was ruled out injured. For Sliema, Ryan Spiteri and Marko Potezica replaced Denni Rocha dos Santos and the suspended John Mintoff. The Blues also lacked the injured Stefano Bianciardi.

With very few attempts at goal throughout the ninety minutes, the Wanderers scored the all-important goal one minute from time when off a cross by Roger, Armando Vieira dos Santos slotted the ball past goalkeeper Calleja Cremona.
