MFA General Secretary Bjorn Vassallo hands resignation

bjorn-vassalloThe Malta Football Association announced that General Secretary Bjorn Vassallo handed his resignation. This was announced during a meeting of the MFA Bureau which was held on Monday morning.

Bjorn Vassallo, who was appointed MFA Chief Executive Officer in 2010 and was later elected as General Secretary, said that he had accepted an offer by FIFA to work as Director Member Associations in Europe.

Vassallo played a key role in the several reforms the association went through in recent years, meant to improve the level of the game.

In a statement, the association said that it was of great honour for the MFA and the local game that its former General Secretary will now be serving within the international body. The association wished him success and thanked him for the hard work over the past twenty-one years in the local game while serving at a member club and later in the MFA administration.
