Valletta target third successive win

BOV-Premier-LeagueValletta will be aiming for a third win in a row as they take on St. Andrews in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme on Friday at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

After dropping eight points in the previous four matches, Valletta moved back on track thanks to wins over Gzira and Tarxien. They share third place with Hibernians, five points behind leaders Balzan. St. Andrews, on the other hand, lost three out of the last four matches and are coming from a narrow defeat to Hibernians last week.

Henry Bonello is still ruled out through suspension while Roderick Briffa is still recovering from an injury. Daniel Brandle is still unavailable for St. Andrews.

Meanwhile in the first match, Floriana face Gzira United.

The Maroons suffered a humiliating 1-7 defeat to Birkirkara last week and are therefore eager to bounce back with a positive result. Floriana, on the other hand, returned to winning ways thanks to a narrow win over Mosta. Another win over Gzira would enable them to keep the pace with the teams on top.

Gzira goalkeeper Jamie Azzopardi is suspended but Jurgen Borg should be back after missing the last two matches. For Floriana, Enrico Pepe is suspended while coach Giovanni Tedesco serves the lat of his four-match ban.
