BOV Division 2: Fine win for San Gwann

BOV-Second-DivisionSan Gwann registered a fine 4-2 win over Swieqi United at the Sirens Stadium in one of six BOV Second Division matches on Saturday.

Stacey Vella put San Gwann ahead on the 8th minute but Patrick Briscoe White converted a penalty to level matters on the 12th minute.  Kenneth Ekezie made it 2-1 for Swieqi on the 55th. A minute later, Abeeb Abiodun Williams restored equilibrium and Jan Tanti put San Gwann ahead on the 79th. Ryan Zammit scored in added time to seal the issue.

Zejtun Corinthians defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Anthony Ewurum put Zejtun ahead on the 21st minute and Adrian Carabott doubled the score four minutes from the end of the first half. John Micallef pulled one back on the 56th minute.

Attard returned to winning ways as they defeated Ghaxaq 2-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Kurt Zahra converted a penalty to put Attard ahead one minute from half-time. Matthew Bajada doubled the score on the 93rd minute and a minute later, Ghaxaq scored a consolation goal through Mark Ellul.

A goal by Aaron Hili on the 25th minute gave St. George’s a narrow win over Marsaxlokk at the Sirens Stadium.

Goals by Shamison Farrugia on the 49th and Michael Micallef on the 67th gave Mellieha a 2-0 win over Mgarr United at the Luxol Stadium. A win which puts Mellieha on level points with Mgarr.

In another match at the Luxol Stadium, Zabbar St. Patrick defeated Siggiewi 3-1 thanks to goals by Jean Claude Cesare on the 5th minute, Christian Briffa on the 80th and Gabriel Bonavia on the 88th. Sam Vella had equalised on the 75th.

Qrendi and Zejtun lead the way with 19 points, followed by San Gwann on 18, Zabbar 13, Siggiewi 11, Birzebbuga, St. George’s and Attard 10, Marsaxlokk and Swieqi 7, Mellieha and Mgarr 5, Gudja 3 and Ghaxaq 2.
