Birkirkara rescue a point in stoppage time

Birkirkara rescued a point in stoppage time in a clash with St. Andrews at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The Stripes, who were coming from a defeat to Hibernians and a draw with Floriana, failed to impress and it had to be a former St. Andrews player to score the goal that earned a point for Birkirkara.

St. Andrews took the lead on the 35th minute when Dale Camilleri sent Enmy Manuel Pena Beltre through and the latter’ powerful drive beat goalkeeper Miroslav Kopric.

Birkirkara notched the equaliser four minute in added time when substitute Matteo Desira Buttigieg managed to place the ball at the back of the net from close range after a cross created havoc inside the area.

Darren Abdilla, on the other hand, made his return as Gzira United coach after assisting former coach Branko Nisevic since the start of this season.

The Rainbows scored the all-important goal three minutes in the second half when a long-distance shot by Daniel Ponce de Leon Garcia was not held by Italian goalkeeper Mauro Boerchio and Julian Galea hit home from close range.

  1. Kienet qisha l loghba li tlifna kontra Pembroke. Hafna pussess sterili, rarament konna perikoluzi lejn il lasta ta’ St Andrews, li min naha taghhom kienu ferm organizzati.

Personalment nemmen li hemm bzonn striker ta stoffa li ma’ nofs cans jiskurjalek. Apparti hekk, meta nsibu tim li jinaghlaq fuq wara qieghdin inbatu hafna ghax bla ideat. Nahseb f partiti bhal dawn trid tkun iktar dirett u aggressiv milli tipprova toqod iddawwar il ballun ghax dawn mhux ha jghidulek ‘ghaddi l-bieb miftuh’.

Nittamaw f rizultati u wirjiet ahjar.
