BOV Division 3: Kalkara move five points clear

Kalkara moved five points clear in the BOV Third Division as a goal by Timmy Thomas gave them a narrow win over Kirkop United at the Luxol Stadium on Sunday.

Santa Lucia defeated Zurrieq 4-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium to join Sta. Venera in second place. Sebastian Perdomo put Santa Lucia ahead on the 10th minute and Dylan Darmanin equalised on the 18th. However Gilbert Camilleri scored twice on the 55th and 71st and Gaynor D’Amato sealed the issue with a fourth goal on the 75th.

In another match at the Charles Abela Stadium, Xghajra Tornados beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-1. Lee Baldacchino put Luqa ahead on the 33rd but Royter Degiorgio equalised on the 42nd and two minutes from time, Glenn Saliba handed Xghajra the three points.

At the Luxol Stadium, Dingli Swallows and Msida St. Joseph shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

Mdina Knights registered a fine 5-2 win over Marsaskala at the Sirens Stadium. Andrea Spiteri put Mdina ahead on the 6th minute but Jurgen Cachia equalised on the 31st. Mdina regained the lead five minutes later thanks to Jonathan Mifsud and Daniel Cremona made it 3-1 six minutes in the second half. Nestor Luis Silva Canas converted a penalty to score a second goal for Marsaskala but Ray Calum Forbes on the 72nd and Daniel Cremona on the 84th added another two goals for Mdina

In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Mtarfa defeated Ta’ Xbiex 3-2. Warren Zerafa gave Mtarfa a two-goal lead with goals on the 31st and 43rd but Andrew Xuereb pulled one back on the 63rd and Sean Lanzon equalised on the 77th. However Vamuya Fofana notched the winner for Mtarfa.

Kalkara lead the way with 22 points, followed by Sta. Venera and Santa Lucia on 17, Mdina 15, Msida, Xghajra and Luqa 14, Kirkop 13, Dingli 10, Zurrieq 9, Mtarfa 6, Ta’ Xbiex 3 and Marsaskala 0.
