Birkirkara FC sack Drazen Besek

bkara-fcBirkirkara FC announced that they have reached an agreement with coach Drazen Besek to part ways.

The Croat had joined Birkirkara in December 2015, replacing Giovanni Tedesco who had quit a couple of weeks earlier. Besek led to the Stripes to third place, six points behind champions Valletta and four behind runners-up Hibernians.

However in summer, he led the team to a historic place in the third round of the UEFA Europa League after eliminating NK Siroki Brijeg of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hearts of Midlothian of Scotland.

Bezek will be replaced by his assistant Nikola Jaros after agreeing an 18-month deal.

The Stripes are currently fifth on 24 points, eight behind leaders Hibernians. They won just one out of the last five matches and were eliminated from the FA Trophy after losing 0-3 to St. Andrews.
