Xewkija Tigers close in on leaders as Nadur are held in a draw

The BOV Gozo Football League First Division resumed this weekend with action moving to the Sannat Ground and Kercem Ajax Stadium.

Leaders Nadur Youngsters dropped two important points as they were held in a 1-1 draw by Xaghra United at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday. Nikola Vitorovic put Xaghra ahead three minutes in the second half but Milos Stojanovic rescued a point for the leaders with a goal on the 77th.

Xewkija Tigers took full advantage as they moved to just three points behind the leaders following a fine 2-0 win over Ghajnsielem at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Sunday. Gennaro Hili was the hero with goals on the 14th and five minutes in the second half.

Kercem Ajax moved third thanks to a 3-0 win over Oratory Youths at the Sannat Ground thanks to Phil Taylor penalty on the 6th minute and goals by Trayo Grozev on the 22nd and Joshua Buttigieg on the 84th.

On Friday, SK Victoria Wanderers and Victoria Hotspurs shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Sannat Ground.

In the BOV GFL Second Division, Gharb Rangers joined Sannat Lions on top following a 3-1 win over Munxar Falcons at the Kercem Ajax Stadium. Elijah Xuereb put Munxar ahead on the 25th but a brace by Paul Anthony Attard on the 36th and 84th and a goal by Saviour Fidelis on the 58th handed the Rangers the three points.

On the other hand, St. Laurence Spurs defeated Sannat Lions 1-0 thanks to Mohammed Senussi Telessi on the 62nd minute.
