Birkirkara girls move seven points clear

Birkirkara moved seven points clear in the BOV Women’s First Division table after defeating rivals Hibernians 1-0 in a top-of-the-table clash at the Charles Abela Stadium on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Mgarr United found no difficulty in beating Raiders (Luxol) 5-0 at the Mgarr Ground thanks to goals by Rebecca Vella on the 10th, Rebecca D’Agostino on the 17th, Amber Grech on the 64th, Kristy Paris on the 85th and Rachel Nolan on the 88th.

Kirkop United defeated Gozo 3-1 at the Mgarr Ground in another match on Tuesday. Oriana Bedingfield put Kirkop ahead on the 7th minute and although Joeline Camileri equalised on the 26th, Alessia Caschetto restored the lead for Kirkop on the 37th and Demi Magrin sealed the issue with a third goal eight minutes in the second half.

Meanwhile Swieqi United keep marching on in the BOV Women’s Second Division after beating Mosta 3-2 at the Charles Abela Stadium on Tuesday. Francesca Zarb put Mosta ahead on the 10th minute but a brace by Emma Moore on the 30th and 55th turned the score in Swieqi’s favour. Kate Galea made it 3-1 on the 61st minute with Olivia Jimenez Medina reducing the gap for Mosta one minute from time.

On Wednesday, Hamrun Spartans came back from two goals down to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw with Kirkop United Team B at the Zebbug Ground. Chelsea Stivala put Kirkop ahead on the 7th minute and Maria Michaela Cassar doubled the score on the 25th minute. However Cristiane Ortiz pulled one back on the 46th and the Brazilian striker levelled matters five minutes from time.
