BOV Division 2: Zabbar move second as Qrendi, San Gwann share spoils in draw

Qrendi and San Gwann shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in this weekend’s big match from the BOV Second Division at the Charles Abela Stadium on Saturday.

Jan Tanti put San Gwann ahead when he converted a penalty on the 70th minute but six minutes later, Giovanni Galea equalised.

This draw enabled Zabbar St. Patrick to move second as they defeated Attard 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to goals by Jean Claude Cesare on the 11th and Carl Magro on the 19th. This was the sixth consecutive for St. Patrick.

Marsaxlokk left it till late to notch a point in a 1-1 draw with Siggiewi at the Luxol Stadium. Jason Camilleri put Siggiewi ahead on the 31st minute but Sergio Hili equalised three minutes in added time.

A Keith Muscat penalty five minutes from time gave Birzebbuga St. Peter’s a narrow win over Swieqi United at the Charles Abela Stadium.

Gudja United collected three precious points in a 3-0 win over Mellieha at the Sirens Stadium thanks to goals by Brandon Saliba on the 6th minute and a brace by Moegamad Asad Boomgaard on the 43rd and 82nd.

Three second-half goals gave Mgarr United a 3-0 win over Ghaxaq at the Luxol Stadium. Nicholas Abela opened the score on the 63rd, Steve Schembri made it 2-0 on the 82nd and Russell Marmara added another three minutes in added time.

Zejtun lead the way with 32 points, followed by Zabbar on 28, San Gwann and Qrendi 27, Siggiewi 20, Birzebbuga 19, Attard and Swieqi 16, St. George’s 13, Marsaxlokk and Gudja 9, Mellieha 8, Mgarr 6 and Ghaxaq 5.
