Birkirkara girls stay seven points clear

Leaders Birkirkara maintained a seven point lead on top the BOV Women’s First Division as they defeated Gozo 4-1 at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Sunday.

Raina Giusti put Birkirkara ahead on the 10th minute and an own goal put them two goals ahead on the half-hour. One minute later, Gozo pulled one back thanks to Maria Farrugia but a brace by Tracy Teuma on the 61st and 81st secured the points for Birkirkara.

Hibernians had to wait until the final thirty minutes to score three and beat Raiders (Luxol) 3-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium on Tuesday thanks to a goal by Emma Xuereb on the 61st, a Charlene Zammit penalty on the 66th and a Jade Flask goal one minute from time.

On Wednesday, Liis Pello scored the all-important goal for Kirkop United as they defeated Mgarr United 1-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium.

In the BOV Women’s Second Division, leaders Swieqi United registered their eighth win as they beat Tarxien Rainbows 5-0 at the Mgarr Ground thanks to goals by Kate Galea on the 25th, Emma Moore on the 35th, Rebecca Naudi on the 51st, Sammy Jo Barbara on the 59th and Mary Rose Cardona on the 77th.

In another match, goals by Francesca Zarb on the 14th, Mariah Micallef on the 48th and Olivia Jimenez Medina on the 58th gave Mosta a 3-0 win over Kirkop United Team B at the Zebbug Ground in another match on Tuesday.
