Women’s national team drawn with Albania, Greece and Kosovo in World Cup qualifiers

Malta Women’s National Team was drawn with Greece, Albania and Kosovo in Group 2 of their World Cup qualifications. The draw was held on Thursday at the UEFA Headquarters, in Nyon.

Both Greece and Albania are above Malta in the FIFA Women’s Rankings, as the Greeks are occupying the 62nd place while Albania are sitting in 72nd. On the other hand, this is the first time for Kosovo after having been acknowledged by both UEFA and FIFA as a member of both football bodies.

The four mini-tournaments will be played on 6, 8 and 11 April, with the section winners and the runner-up with the best record against the sides first and third in their section progressing to the qualifying group stage, joining the 30 top-ranked entrants in the draw on 25 April.
