A goal four minutes from time by Justin Felice gave Kalkara a narrow win over Luqa St. Andrew’s in the top-of-the table clash in the BOV Third Division at the Charles Abela Stadium on Saturday. A win which puts Kalkara six points clear.
Santa Lucia brought Xghajra Tornados’ unbeaten run to an end, beating them 2-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium. A win which puts Santa Lucia back in second place. Jean Claude Annati put Santa Lucia ahead on the 79th and two minutes in added time, Shaun Vella doubled the score.
Sta. Venera Lightnings were held in a goalless draw by Kirkop United at the Luxol Stadium. A third consecutive goalless draw for Kirkop against another challenger for promotion.
Msida St. Joseph registered a fine 5-1 win over Marsaskala at the Sirens Stadium. Matthew Borg put Msida ahead on the 10th minute and four minutes later, Clint Zammit doubled the score. Nikolai Golubovic pulled one back for Marsaskala on the 21st minute but Izuchukwu Owen Anyaso made it 3-1 on the 34th. Darren Caruana scored a fourth goal seven minutes in the second half and Matthew Borg added another on the 69th.
At the Luxol Stadium, Ta’ Xbiex and Dingli Swallows earned a point each as they shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
In another match, Zurrieq defeated Mtarfa 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to two goals in the first ten minutes by Dylan Darmanin on the 3rd minute and Leontiev Konda on the 10th.
Kalkara lead the way with 36 points, followed by Santa Lucia on 30, Luqa 29, Sta. Venera and Xghajra 28, Msida 26, Kirkop 25, Mdina 21, Zurrieq 19, Dingli 12, Ta’ Xbiex 10, Mtarfa 6 and Marsaskala 3.
