BOV Division 1: Qormi, Senglea return to winning ways

Qormi and Senglea Athletic both returned to winning ways in the BOV First Division on Friday.

After four consecutive draws, Qormi extended their unbeaten run to eleven matches with a 2-0 win over Mqabba. An own goal just before half-time paved the way for Qormi and Michael Camilleri doubled the score on the 76th.

Juninho Cabral was the hero for Senglea Athletic as he notched a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Fgura United at the Centenary Stadium. Keith Tanti put Steve D’Amato’s side ahead on the 22nd minute and the Brazilian midfielder scored three on the 66th, 76th and 88th.

Zebbug Rangers claimed three important points in a 2-1 win over Sirens at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Christian Caruana put Sirens ahead on the 38th minute but Zebbug levelled matters thanks to an own goal on the 59th and Demba Toure notched the winner eleven minutes from time.

Naxxar lead the way with 35 points, followed by Qormi on 34, Vittoriosa and Senglea 32, Lija and Mqabba 29, Sirens and Pietà 26, Zebbug 21, Marsa 20, Melita 19, Rabat 15, Fgura 14 and Gharghur 9.
