BOV Division 1: Juninho Cabral scores four in comfortable win for Senglea

Vittoriosa Stars missed the chance to take sole leadership in the BOV First Division as they shared the spoils with Lija Athletic in a 2-2 draw at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday.

Following a goalless first half, Paolo Dandolo put Lija ahead six minutes in the second half. Obinna Obiefule levelled matters on the 64th minute but Lija regained the lead thanks to a goal by Patrick Borg on the 76th. However five minutes in added time, Obinna Obiefule converted a penalty for Vittoriosa to restore equilibirum.

Juninho Cabral scored four as Senglea Athletic registered a most comfortable 6-1 win over Sirens at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Cabral opened the score on the 21st, converted a penalty on the 43rd and added another two goals on the 54th and 60th to put Steve D’Amato’s side four goals ahead. Miguel Ciantar pulled one back on the 77th but Ryan Dalli made it 5-1 on the 83rd with Terence Vella adding another in stoppage time.

Senglea join Qormi in second place after the latter were held in a 1-1 draw by Melita at the Centenary Stadium.

Brandon Grech put Qormi ahead on the 12th minute but Alan Borg Olivier equalised on the hour.

Naxxar and Vittoriosa lead the way with 36 points, followed by Senglea and Qormi on 35, Lija 33, Mqabba 29, Sirens and Pietà 26, Zebbug and Melita 21, Marsa 20, Rabat 15, Fgura 14 and Gharghur 12.
