San Gwann joined Zabbar St. Patrick in second place in the BOV Second Division as they defeated bottom-placed Ghaxaq 6-2 at the Luxol Stadium on Friday.

Abeeb Abiodun Williams put San Gwann ahead on the 15th minute but Florin Anton equalised two minutes in the second half. San Gwann’s reaction was immediate and Sergio Hili made it 2-1 a minute later. Stacey Vella scored a third on the 51st and Williams made it 5-1 on the 53rd. Another goal by Stacey Vella increased the lead further on the 71st and although Bjorn Dalli scored a second goal for Ghaxaq on the 76th, an own goal on the 90th made it 6-2 for San Gwann.

Zejtun lead the way with 47 points, followed by San Gwann and Zabbar on 43, Qrendi 41, Birzebbuga 29, Swieqi 27, Siggiewi 26, Attard 21, Mgarr 19, St. George’s 16, Marsaxlokk 13, Gudja and Mellieha 12 and Ghaxaq 8.
