BOV Division 2: Zejtun Corinthians held by Marsaxlokk

Leaders Zejtun Corinthians were held in a goalless draw by Marsaxlokk at the Luxol Stadium in one of the six matches from the BOV Second Division on Saturday.

Zabbar St. Patrick returned to winning ways as a goal on the 94th minute by Samuel Buhagiar gave them a narrow win over Swieqi United at the Sirens Stadium.

Giovanni Galea was the hero for Qrendi as he scored four in a most comfortable 5-0 win over Attard at the Centenary Stadium. Galea gave Qrendi an early lead, putting them ahead on the 2nd minute and then scored twice on the 61st and 65th before Dylan Zarb made it 4-0 on the 71st. Four minutes later, Giovanni Galea scored his fourth goal and the fifth for Qrendi.

A brace by Lazar Doric on the 16th and 21st gave Mgarr United a 2-0 win over St. George’s at the Sirens Stadium.

Mellieha and Siggiewi shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Centenary Stadium with Samuel Vella putting Siggiewi ahead five minutes from time and Nicholas Zammit equalising four minutes later.

In another match, Gudja United collected three precious points in a 2-1 win over Birzebbuga St. Peter’s at the Luxol Stadium. Marko Dimitrijevic put Gudja ahead on the 26th minute and although Keith Muscat equalised thanks to a penalty six minutes from the end of the first half, Bradley Cassar made it 2-1 for Gudja three minutes from time.

Zejtun lead the way with 48 points, followed by Zabbar on 46, Qrendi 44, San Gwann 43, Birzebbuga 29, Siggiewi and Swieqi 27, Mgarr 22, Attard 21, St. George’s 16, Gudja 15, Marsaxlokk 14, Mellieha 13 and Ghaxaq 8.
