Rabat Ajax claimed three precious points in the battle against relegation as they returned to winning ways, beating Marsa 2-1 in one of the two BOV First Division matches in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

Ryan Micallef was the hero for Rabat as he scored twice, putting Rabat ahead on the 22nd minute and doubling the score three minutes in the second half. Kento Sakurai pulled one back for Marsa three minutes later.

Pietà Hotspurs defeated Fgura United 2-1. Gabriel Mensah put the Hotspurs ahead on the half-hour and six minutes later, James Scicluna doubled the score. Cleavon Frendo scored a consolation goal for Fgura six minutes in the second half.

Naxxar lead the way with 39 points, followed by Vittoriosa on 36, Senglea and Qormi 35, Lija 33, Mqabba 32, Pietà 29, Sirens 26, Zebbug and Melita 21, Marsa 20, Rabat 18, Fgura 14 and Gharghur 12.
