BOV Division 1: Michael Camilleri goal sinks Naxxar

A goal by Michael Camilleri after just ten minutes gave Qormi three precious points as they defeated leaders Naxxar Lions at the Centenary Stadium in one of the four matches in programme on Sunday. This win and Senglea’s win over Zebbug Rangers means that Qormi and Senglea now lie just one point behind the leaders.

In fact, in the second game at the Centenary Stadium, a brace by Terence Vella on the 27th and 37th put Senglea two goals ahead with Mauricio Rodrigues Britto reducing the gap for Zebbug fourteen minutes from time when he converted a penalty.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, two first half goals from Luke Micallef on the 19th and Nicholas Bradshaw on the 34th gave Melita a 2-0 win over bottom-placed Gharghur.

On the other hand, Sirens defeated Pietà Hotspurs 2-1. Christian Caruana put Sirens ahead on the 18th minute and Daniel Agius doubled the score seven minutes from time. Three minutes later, Djibril Cisse Mademba scored a consolation goal for the Hotspurs.

Naxxar lead the way with 39 points, followed by Senglea and Qormi on 38, Lija and Vittoriosa 36, Mqabba 35, Sirens and Pietà 29, Melita 24, Marsa 23, Zebbug 21, Rabat 18, Fgura 14 and Gharghur 12.
