Leaders Xewkija held by Kercem

Leaders Xewkija Tigers dropped two points in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division after being held in a 1-1 daw by Kercem Ajax at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday.

Claudio Frances put the Tigers ahead on the 36th minute but Gustavo Franca Amadio converted a penalty three minutes from time to rescue a point for the Ajax.

Nadur Youngsters narrowed the gap to four points after beating Victoria Hotspurs 4-1 in another match on Sunday. Darko Stojanovic put Nadur ahead on the 34th minute. Seven minutes later, Claudio Antunes doubled the score and Dewide Dos Santos made it 3-0 on the 56th with Brandon Said adding another six minutes later. Joseph Vella scored a consolation goal for the Hotspurs ten minutes from time.

On Friday, Everton Felipe Da Silva Santos notched a hat-trick as Oratory Youths defeated SK Victoria Wanderers 4-0. The Brazilian scored twice on the 10th and the 15th and following a goal by Andrea Debrincat on the 38th, he added another eight minutes from time.

In another match, Ghajnsielem registered a comfortable 5-0 win over bottom-placed Xaghra United thanks to a hat-trick by John Camilleri on the 2nd, 14th and 55th, Jhon Jairo Sandoval Guarin on the 10th and Ferdinando Apap two minutes in added time.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, joint-leaders Gharb Rangers and St. Lawrence Spurs kept marching on as they both registered wins.

St. Lawrence Spurs defeated Zebbug Rangers 5-0 on Wednesday thanks to goals by Mohammed Senussi Telessi on the 9th,
Charles Mercieca on the 38th, Marlon Mamo on the 39th, Charlon Tabone on the 71st and Mohammed Senussi Telessi two minutes in added time.

On the other hand, Gharb Rangers defeated Sannat Lions 2-1 on Saturday thanks to goals by Andrew Ofulue on the 41st and Oliver Farrugia on the 75th with Ajibade Adeshina scoring a consolation goal for Sannat on the 77th.

This was the second defeat in four days for Sannat after losing 3-4 to Munxar Falcons. Sunday Baala gave Sannat a two-goal lead with a goal on the 8th and a penalty on the 25th. Oliver Curmi reduced the gap for Munxar but Ajibade Adeshina made it 3-1 for Sannat on the 74th. However a hat-trick by Michael Mattias Uzor on the 77th, 84th and 91st turned the score in Munxar’s favour.

On Saturday, Munxar registered another win as they beat Qala Saints 1-0 thanks to a goal by Oliver Curmi six minutes in the second half.
