Birkirkara fell into fifth place after being held in a 1-1 draw by Sliema Wanderers at the National Stadium on Saturday. This result, in fact, leaves the Stripes one point behind fourth-placed Floriana.
The two teams shared the exchanges throughout the ninety minutes and all in all, a draw was a fair result. Following two 2-1 defeats in the first two rounds, Birkirkara therefore failed to register a first win over Sliema this season.
The Stripes had one change from the team which defeated Hamrun as Srdjan Dimitrov replaced the suspended Gonzalo Malan. The Wanderers, on the other hand, had Stefano Bianciardi and Mark Scerri replacing John Mintoff ad Salomon Wisdom
Birkirkara took the lead on the 11th minute thanks to a fine curved freekick by Miguel Angel Alba which gave Sarao no chance.
Seven minutes later, the Blues levelled matters when Denni Rocha dos Santos intercepted a back-pass by Cain Attard for the goalkeeper and hit the ball home past goalkeeper Bonello.
