BOV Division 2: Zejtun regain sole leadership

Zejtun Corinthians regained sole leadership in the BOV Second Division as they beat Attard 3-1 at the Sirens Stadium in one of the six matches in programme on Sunday.

Adrian Carabott put Zejtun ahead on the 11th, Anthony Ewurum doubled the score three minutes later and although Benjamin Onyekachi Ozogugwu pulled one back on the 80th, Ayrton Mizzi made it 3-1 on the 89th.

Marsaxlokk registered a shock 3-0 win over Zabbar St. Patrick at the Charles Abela Stadium thanks to a brace by Jeremiah Ani on the 11th and 55th and a goal by Thomas Francis Grech fourteen minutes from time.

A goal three minutes in added time at the end of the first half by Giovanni Galea gave Qrendi a narrow win over St. George’s at the Charles Abela Stadium while Nikolai Muscat scored the all-important goal ten minutes from time as San Gwann defeated Mgarr United 1-0 at the Luxol Stadium.

Gudja United claimed three precious points as they defeated neighbours Ghaxaq 1-0 at the Luxol Stadium thanks to a goal by Steve Buttigieg on the 34th minute.

At the Sirens Stadium, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s defeated Mellieha 2-0 thanks to goals by Luca Santoiemma on the 64th and a Ronnie Celeste penalty ten minutes from time.

Zejtun lead the way with 55 points, followed by Zabbar on 52, Qrendi on 51, San Gwann 50, Swieqi 33, Birzebbuga 32, Siggiewi 28, Attard 24, Mgarr 22, Marsaxlokk 21, St. George’s 19, Gudja 18, Mellieha 17 and Ghaxaq 11.
