Mosta retain Premier League status

Mosta scored three second-half goals as they came back from a goal down to beat First Division side Qormi 3-1 in the BOV Premier League Play-Off at the National Stadium on Friday. The Blues therefore retain their Premier League status while Qormi will play once again in Division 1.

Qormi took the lead on the 6th minute when Lawrence Chiedozie advanced on the left before entering the penalty area and serving the unmarked Darko Medic who slotted the ball past goalkeeper Yenz Cini.

Mosta levelled matters on the 56th minute when David Fenech served Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza on the left and the latter’s angled shot beat Qormi goalkeeper Jamie Azzopardi.

Two minutes later, the Blues forged ahead when Njongo Priso’s cross was blocked by a defender on the edge of the area but Jonas Rodrigues Ekani served Pedro dos Santos Calcado whose diagonal shot from the right gave Azzopardi no chance.

Mosta sealed the issue nine minutes from time with a third goal thanks to Njongo Priso, served by Pedrinho on the left, who slotted the ball past the Qormi goalkeeper.
