Futsal: Valletta, Luxol make it to the final

Valletta and Luxol are the finalists of the Gatorade Elite Round after easing past their respective opponents in the second leg play-off semi-finals.

In the most enticing tie of the week, Valletta obtained a second consecutive victory over Hamrun Tre Angeli as they saw them off 8-4. This result followed their 6-2 win in the first leg. The Citizens had a strong start as they scored four goals in no time following strikes from Daniel Aguilera, Xavier Saliba, Jovica Milijic and an own goal from Florin Anton. Before the break, Jason Mifsud reduced the arrears to 4-1 for Hamrun. In the second half, Valletta controlled the proceedings scoring four more goals in the process through a brace from Raphinha, Melvin Borg and Rodrigo. On the other hand, Brazilian Everton Veve scored a hat-trick for Hamrun to put some consolation on their result.

Luxol had an easy passage to the final as they defeated Swieqi United 11-2. Giancarlo Sammut and Mark Zammit were in fine form as they struck a hat-trick, Dejan Bizjak netted a brace while strikes from Emil Raducu, Zvezdan Vukovic and William Barbosa completed the result for the St Andrews outfit. Bulgarian striker Boicho Marev hit a brace to reduce the score for Swieqi.

Therefore Luxol and Valletta will contend the best-of-three Gatorade Elite final to maintain their intention to win the championship.
