UEFA confirmed the seedings for the first and second qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League – the draws for which will be held on Monday in Nyon.

Malta will be represented by Hibernians in the UEFA Champions League and by Balzan, Floriana and Valletta in the UEFA Europa League.

Hibernians are one of the seeded teams in the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round along with The New Saints (WAL), Linfield (NIR), Víkingur (FRO) and FC Santa Coloma (AND). The Paolites’ possible opponents are therefore Alashkert (ARM), La Fiorita (SMR), Europa (GIB), FCI Tallinn (EST) and Trepça ’89 (KOS).

The draws for the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League first and second qualifying rounds will be held at 12:00CET on Monday.

The teams will be split into two pots, with the clubs with the highest coefficients seeded. Each tie will match a seeded and unseeded team with the first side drawn out at home in the opening leg. Ties played on 27/28 June and 4/5 July.

In the second qualifying round draw, the champions of the countries who enter in this round are joined by the first qualifying round winners. Before the draw, clubs are split into groups with equal numbers of seeded and unseeded teams who are drawn together. The first sides drawn out for each tie are at home in the opening leg.

Meanwhile in the UEFA Europa League, Balzan, Floriana and Valletta are three out of the hundred teams in the first qualifying round.

Valletta are seeded while Balzan and Floriana are unseeded.

The first qualifying round draw will be held at 13:00CET, followed at 14:30CET by the second qualifying round draw.

Teams ranked according to their coefficient and further split into seeding groups prior to the draw. First qualifying round matches are scheduled for June 29 and July 6.

In the second qualifying round, scheduled for July 13 and 20, the 50 winners from the first qualifying round are joined by another sixteen clubs.
