BOV Football League draws to be held on July 3

The draws for the BOV Premier League, First Division, Second Division and Third Division for season 2017/18 will be held on July 3.

As from this season, the Premier League shall take the form of a league which shall be played by the fourteen clubs on a double round-robin basis.

The teams placing thirteenth and fourteenth would be relegated to the First Division while the team placing twelfth would be playing against the team placing third in the First Division.

The First Division shall once again take the form of a league which shall be played by all the fourteen clubs in the Division on a double round-robin basis.

At the end of the league, the top two teams will be promoted while the team placing third shall be facing the team finishing twelfth in the Premier League in a play-off. On the other hand, the teams placing thirteenth and fourteenth shall be relegated to the Second Division while the team finishing twelfth will take part in a play-off against the team finishing third in the Second Division.

As from this season, the Second Division shall take the form of a league played by the thirteen clubs on a double round-robin basis.

At the end of the league, the top two teams shall be promoted to the First Division while the team placing third shall be facing the team finishing twelfth in the First Division. On the other hand, the teams placing twelfth and thirteenth shall be relegated to the Third Division while the team finishing eleventh will take part in a play-off against the team finishing third in the Third Division.

The Third Division shall take the form of a league which shall be played on a double round-robin basis.

At the end of the league, the top two teams shall be promoted to the Second Division while the team placing third shall be facing the team finishing eleventh in the Second Division. The clubs in the bottom two places shall drop out of the National League and need to apply for reinstatement.

Meanwhile the MFA Executive Committee endorsed the Member Status Committee’s decision to accept the applications of Marsaskala FC and Ta’ Xbiex FC to take part in the Third Division League after the two clubs occupied the last two positions in the standings at the end of last season.

The BOV Premier League will kick-off on the 18th August. The second round starts on the 15th December and ends on the 21th April with the last match. The First and Second Division will commence on Friday 8th September while the Third Division will kick-off on the 16th September.

The Super Cup Match between Hibernians and Floriana will be played on Wednesday 13th December 2017 at the National Stadium.
