As from season 2017/18, the Women’s Under-17 League will be replaced by the Women’s Under-19 League. This was announced during a meeting of the Council of the Malta Football Association which was held on Tuesday.

Player who were eligible to take part in the Women’s Under-17 competitions so far are now eligible to take part in the Women’s Under-19 League and Knock-Out.

Women’s youth competitions were introduced in season 2012/13 with the Women’s Under-16 League and Knock-Out. Last season, the competitions were reserved for Under-17s.
