Birkirkara secured the services of Brazilian central defender Lucas Maia.

The twenty-four year old is a product of Gremio in Brazil. He also played for Resende FC in Brazil before moving to Europe to join Vejle Boldklub in Denmark.

The Stripes had earlier signed Jake Grech from Hamrun, Brandon Muscat from Hibernians, Llywelyn Cremona and Luke Montebello from Valletta and David Cassar who played for Hamrun Spartans last season.
