St. Andrews, Lija maintain hundred per cent record in Summer Cup

St. Andrews and Lija Athletic both registered their third win in the Summer Cup being organised by St. Andrews at the Luxol Stadium.

First-half goals by Kemmu Jackson and Kaylon Paisley gave St. Andrews a 2-0 win over Pietà Hotspurs on Sunday while on Friday, Lija Athletic defeated Qrendi 4-1. Stefano Montesano Perez put Lija ahead and although Dhonatan Santos da Hora levelled matters for Qrendi, a brace by Erjon Beu and a goal by Romer Alexis Alegria Jimenez handed Lija the three points.

Gzira United registered their first win as they beat Qrendi 3-1 in another match on Sunday. Andrew Cohen and Sacha Borg gave the Maroons a two-goal lead and although Batista Navarro pulled one back for Qrendi, Austin Obaje sealed the issue with a third goal.
