Luxol secure UEFA Futsal Cup main round spot

Luxol St. Andrews Futsal Club secured a historic place in the main round of the UEFA Futsal Cup after winning Group C of the Preliminary Round with maximum points as they defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv 4-3 at the Sporthalle Europagymnasium Linz-Auhof in Linz, Austria.

Kristijan Grbeša and Zvezdan Vuković gave Luxol an early two goal lead with Mark Zammit adding another before Adam Cohen pulled one back for the Israeli side. In the second half, Ivan Diedunov scored a second goal for Maccabi but Nikola Perković scored a fourth goal for Luxol. Adam Cohen reduced the gap once again for Maccabi Tel Aviv.

In the main round, which will be played between the 10th and 15th October, Luxol are due to play in Group 5 along with Nacional Zagreb of Croatia, Garges Djibson of France and the winner of Group B. However due to a decision of the UEFA Emergency Committee that clubs from Armenia and Azerbaijan cannot meet since Leo of Armenia won Group F, they will be moved to Group 5 from Group 8 which includes Araz Naxçivan of Azerbaijan, FC Deva of Romania and the winners of Group E. Therefore either Luxol or the winner of Group B would have to be moved to Group 8.
