Sirens FC strengthen squad ahead of First Division campaign

Following a satisfactory first experience in the second tier of Maltese football during season 2016/17, Sirens FC aim to consolidate the place of the club in the First Division by building a team formed from a mix of experienced and young talents.

The Committee, together with the Coaching Staff, worked hard during the pre-season period to attract a number of players to the club and secured a number of players ahead of the coming season.

Prolific scorer Giovanni Galea, a product of Sirens FC, has rejoined the club after a spell in with Qrendi FC in the Second Division last seasonduring which he netted 29 goals. Another striker, Aud-Gustine James Obaje, Nigerian, joined the squad from Senglea Athletic FC.

Other foreign players joining the squad are two players from Bosia-Herzegovina, Bojan Kremenovic (last club FK Derventa), Darko Medic (from Qormi FC) and Nigerian Ebuka Emmanuel Ijezie (from Mosta FC).

More local talent was signed from local clubs: Ryan Previ (from Vittoriosa Stars FC); Ryan Marmara (from Mgarr United FC); Isaac Chircop (from Gharghur FC); and Luke Galea (from Mosta FC).

Mr Orosco Anonam was contracted as head coach for Season 2017/18. He will be assisted by Mr Ndubisi Chukunyere. Both Mr Anonam and Mr Chukunyere need no introduction with the Maltese football enthusiasts as both had successful carriers in the Maltese Premier League, with Mr Anonam also forming part of the National Squad.

Meanwhile in the light of the law on commercialization of sport facilities, that came into effect on 29 April 2017, Sirens FC are exploring possibilities of how the club can take advantage of the new concessions. Negotiations are in place with a private entity for a joint project.

2018 will mark the 50th Anniversary from the founding of the club, formerly known as the St Paul’s Bay Football Team. Sirens FC shall be organising a number of events to commemorate this anniversary. The first of which is a logo design contest for the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary from the Club’s Foundation. 1968 – 2018. The winning design will receive €100.
