BOV Division 2: Swieqi hit seven past Mgarr

The BOV Second Division kicked-off on Saturday with Swieqi United registering an impressive 7-2 win over Mgarr United at the Luxol Stadium in one of the four matches in programme.

No less than eight goals were scored in the final twenty-five minutes of the clash between Swieqi and Mgarr. Sadat Suraka opened the scoring for Swieqi on the 17th minute. Nicholas Schembri scored twice on the 65th and the 70th with Daniel Vassallo reducing the gap on the 77th minute but Jake Scerri made it 4-1. Clayton Borg scored a second goal for Mgarr on the 85th but two goals by Jake Scerri on the 87th and 89th and a 91st minute strike by Nicholas Schembri handed a fine win over Mgarr.

A goal by Lee Baldacchino just before half-time handed newly-promoted Luqa St. Andrew’s a narrow win over St. George’s in another match at the Luxol Stadium.

Newly-promoted Santa Lucia defeated Attard 2-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Santa Lucia took the lead after just two minutes thanks to Karl Conti and although Bledi Alla equalised eight minutes from the end of the first half, Sebastian Perdomo notched the winner on the 90th minute.

In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s and Gharghur shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
