St. George’s registered their first win in the BOV Second Division as they defeated Gharghur 2-1 in one of the two matches in programme at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.
Following a goalless first half, goals by Matthew Spiteri on the 51st and Marlon Farrugia two minutes later gave the Saints a two-goal lead with Eduardo de Lima Nicolau reducing the gap four minutes in added time.
In another match, Mgarr United and Fgura United shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw. Thomas Grech put Fgura ahead on the 14th minute but six minutes later, Gordon Saliba equalised. Gilbert Martin made it 2-1 on the 36th but Daniel Cremona levelled matters nine minutes in the second half. Thomas Grech scored again on the 75th minute to put Fgura 3-2 ahead but Lazar Doric equalised four minutes in added time.
Swieqi, Siggiewi, Santa Lucia, Luqa and St. George’s lead the way with 3 points, followed by Fgura on 2, Birzebbuga, Gharghur and Mgarr 1, Gudja, Kalkara and Attard 0.
