Mosta return to winning ways

Mosta registered their second win in the BOV Premier League as they defeated Tarxien Rainbows 3-1 at the National Stadium on Sunday.

A second win for Johann Scicluna’s side and a fourth consecutive defeat for the Rainbows who remain anchored at the bottom of the table without any points.

Following a goalless first half, the game came to life in the first fifteen minutes of the second half.

The Blues took the lead on the 48th minute thanks to Godwin Blessing Henshaw, served by Thomas Veronese from the left, whose volley gave the Tarxien goalkeeper no chance.

Tarxien equalised four minutes later with a powerful shot by Ryan Darmanin from inside the area.

However Mosta regained the lead on the 57th minute when off another assist by Veronese, Leonardo Henrique Ferreira placed the ball at the back of the net.

On the hour, Cristian Martins Fernandez made it 3-1 as he hit the ball home from close range.
