Xewkija, Hotspurs register wins

Xewkija Tigers and Victoria Hotspurs registered a second win in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division this weekend.

Champions Xewkija defeated Kercem Ajax 3-2 at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday. Rodney Buttigieg scored twice on the 31st and 42nd to give the Tigers a two-goal lead and Claudio Antunes added another on the 58th. Kercem reduced the gap with a brace by Ognjen Rolovic on the 63rd and 64th.

In another match on Sunday, Oratory Youths held Ghajnsielem in a 1-1 draw, a penalty by Bartomeu Perello Palou on the 58th minute for Oratory and a goal by Jhon Jairo Sandoval Guarin on the 70th.

On Thursday, Victoria Hotspurs defeated Nadur Youngsters 2-0 thanks to two penalties by Elton da Silva on the 35th and 75th.

In another match, SK Victoria Wanderers came from behind to beat Gharb Rangers 4-1. Michael Bezzina put Gharb ahead on the 15th. Ajibade Adeshina equalised on the 36th and four minutes later, Nicolas Abot put the Wanderers 2-1 ahead. Sam Harland made it 3-1 on the 57th and Nicolas Abot added another ten minutes later.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Munxar Falcons registered a fine 4-0 win over Zebbug Rovers at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday.

Following a goalless first half, Oliver Curmi put the Falcons ahead on the 59th. Jordi Parnis doubled the score on the 77th before hitting another two minutes in added time with Michael Matthias Uzor scoring a fourth goal a minute later.

A hat-trick by Luke Attard gave Xaghra United a 3-1 win over Qala Saints. Attard scored on the 18th, 68th and 76th with Bernard Sammut scoring a consolation goal one minute from time.

Xaghra United had shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with St Lawrence Spurs on Tuesday in a match which was abandoned the previous weekend. Mohammed Senussi Telessi put the Spurs ahead three minutes from the end of the first half with David Bajada equalising on the 69th.
